The Schrock Bros is a labor of musical love sandwiched between generations, the 'real' world, multiple musical projects, and many miles.
Focusing on original music, combining rich three part harmonies with soulful lead vocals and a steady groove, the Schrock Bros have developed an original folk/rock/ roots music style that is all their own. Brothers Andrew (bass, vocals), and Jasen (acoustic guitar, vocals), with their father Mark (guitars, mandolin, fiddle, vocals) each bring a distinct lead singing and songwriting style to the group. Long time musical associate David ‘Uncle Raff’ Raffenaud expands the musical palette with piano, organ, and accordion. Drummer Michael Shimmin joins the Bros for selected shows.
Multi-instrumentalist Mark Schrock has graced stages around the country since the 1970’s, playing music inspired by every genre of American music from bluegrass to R&B to jazz with regional favorites Cabbage Crik, Iowa Rose, Madcat Midnight Blues Journey, Jimmy Dillon and the Werewolves, Drew Nelson and Highway 2, and Jive At Five. Sons Jasen and Andrew have inherited their father’s open musical mind and passion for musical performance. Both Jasen and Andrew have experienced the musical worlds of rock, blues, jazz, swing, funk, folk, techno, musical theater, and classical music while exploring their own individual musical endeavors; Andrew with WMU’s Gold Company program and his full time gig with Funktion; Jasen with the Chicago based Blues Swingers and Naked Mile.
After years of family singing and annual performances at the Wheatland Music Festival gospel sing, the “brothers” decided to officially take it on the road in 2005. They play clubs, festivals, concerts, and private events in Michigan and the Chicago area on a regular basis and are developing a loyal following.
